More Information

The East Anglian Single Reed Choir was formed in January 2000 by Angela Fussell in response to the need in the area for a specialist ensemble. The members are drawn from a wide area within East Anglia and the Choir is open to clarinet and/or saxophone players who live/work in the East Anglian community. The repertoire is varied and includes classical music which is often written or arranged for the ensemble and the lighter styles of jazz and folk music. Recent performances have included works by Borodin, Rossini, Mendelssohn, Jacob, Harvey to name but a few. Several EASRC members have featured as solo performers. The EASRC recently spent a very enjoyable, hard working weekend recording a CD featuring some of their favourite works. Click here to order your copy!

Angela Fussell, who sadly passed away on 28th February 2006, had a varied career that encompassed all fields of music - chamber, solo, orchestral, teaching, examining, coaching, adjudicating, lecturing, mentoring and writing.

She was one of the senior Professors at Colchester Institute and she also taught at Eton and the Royal College of music Junior Department.

Having started the first all Saxophone Choir to meet on a regular basis in 1990 at the Colchester Institute, Angela decided to form this community Single Reed Choir to fill a gap in the playing opportunities on offer in Essex and the surrounding areas.
